   Librarianship, Information Management and Curatorial Studies is the study of the methods of selecting, acquiring, organising and storing collections of information, facilitating the use of information and locating, identifying and assessing heritage resources. Skills learned include: identifying and meeting the information needs of individuals, groups and organisations, using various technologies and media for recording, storing and retrieving information, meeting day to day user requirements and requests including the loan and return of books, managing and maintaining information collections, analysing cultural materials, the preservation of artefacts and planning exhibitions. The main purpose of this field of study is to develop an understanding of different methods and practices in library and information management, the methods of selecting and organising library resources, the technology used in the storage, retrieval and dissemination of information. the methods of assessing the information requirements of users, and of using various information sources to meet those requirements. It also involves conserving and exhibiting artefacts of cultural importance.
